Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to common questions about our residential surveying services.

A Closing (boundary) survey to confirm property lines, locate visible improvements, and note potential encroachments before closing or refinancing.

Yes. A Boundary survey with corner marking and line flagging helps place the fence on your property and avoid line disputes.

Usually a boundary/topographic survey for permitting. Many jurisdictions and HOAs also require impervious surface calculations.

An EC documents building elevations relative to the local floodplain. Insurers, lenders, or permit offices request it for properties in or near flood zones or when adjusting flood insurance requirements.

Prior surveys and GIS maps are helpful references, but they aren’t a substitute for current field verification, especially for construction, fencing, or permitting.

Most new builds need boundary/topographic survey for design and construction layout/staking to place the house and site features correctly. If in a regulated area, impervious calculations may also be required.
